mUSG is a low-cost, 32–channel ultrasound research system with direct software access to raw RF signals(ie. channel data). The system consists of an ultrasound front-end module with a USB 3.0/PCIe interface and an optional embedded PC with CPU+GPU. Fully programmable transmit, receive and processing functions predispose the mUSG to research and educational applications. A novel ultrasound system architecture is optimized for GPU-based software processing. Ready-to-use synthetic aperture image reconstruction algorithms are available(eg. plane wave imaging, STA). The user’s own algorithms can be easily developed using standard CUDA/OpenCL frameworks enabling real-time implementation of custom image processing methods.
